Are You Selecting The Flooring For Your New Home?

If you are building a new home, you must be very excited. You are also more than likely very busy in the selection of the different ways you will design each room. Part of that decision is in selecting the floors for each room. If you are interested in getting some ideas for which floors to select, read on.

The Formal Areas: Of course, selecting carpet for the living room and dining room is one excellent choice. However, have you considered selecting hardwood floors for that area of your new house? Dark hardwood floors would probably give your living room and dining room a very classic and traditional look. The great thing about today's hardwood floors is that they are constructed in a way that they are easy to maintain and, with proper care, they will last for a very long time. Think of them as a piece of fine wooden furniture. Simply go over them with a clean dust mop and, when more attention is needed, use gentle cleansers and then finish the job with a product that is designed to give luster to wooden floors. Consider selecting a unique pattern for the hardwood floor. The experts where you select the flooring will have many selections of patterns from which you can make your choice.

The Informal Areas: Have you chosen a theme for your family room? Perhaps you are going with a casual western look or a beach look. Again, a hardwood floor might be perfect for the family room. This time, however, consider going with a lighter wood. Not only will it provide a bit of contrast with the dark hardwood floor, which might be appealing, but it will have all of the same benefits as the dark hardwood floor in the more formal living areas. The light hardwood floor will go with a beach theme, a western theme or any other theme you select.

The Kitchen: Hardwood flooring is a good choice for your kitchen, too. If you want an elegant kitchen, think of selecting a dark wood. For an informal kitchen, go with the lighter wood you selected for the family room.

The Bedrooms: Here's where you might want to select carpets. The bedrooms more than likely won't get as much traffic as the other rooms in the house, so carpet is a good choice. In addition, you can select different colors for each bedroom. For example, you might want a denim blue carpet for a young boy's room while you might select pink or lavender carpet for a little girl's room.
